Nonequilibrium Phase Transition in Stochastic Lattice Gases: Simulation of a Three-Dimensional System I

چکیده

We report results of computer simulations of a three-dimensional lattice gas of interacting particles subject to a uniform external field E. The dynamics of the system is given by hoppings of particles to nearby empty sites with rates biased for jumps in the direction of E. As for the two-dimensional system we find that here too there exists a critical temperature, Tc(E ) such that for T < T~(E) the systems orders in a very anisotropic phase with striplike typical configurations parallel to the field. Tc(E ) increases with E but substantially less strongly than in two dimensions. There is a break in the slope of the saturation current at Tc(E ). Our data are consistent with the critical exponent fl being mean field.

Nonequilibrium Steady States of Stochastic Lattice Gas Models of Fast Ionic Conductors

We investigate theoretically and via computer simulation the stationary nonequilibrium states of a stochastic lattice gas under the influence of a uniform external field E. The effect of the field is to bias jumps in the field direction and thus produce a current carrying steady state. Simulations on a periodic 30 • 30 square lattice with attractive nearest-neighbor interactions suggest a noneq...

Magnetic Properties in a Spin-1 Random Transverse Ising Model on Square Lattice

In this paper we investigate the effect of a random transverse field, distributed according to a trimodal distribution, on the phase diagram and magnetic properties of a two-dimensional lattice (square with z=4),  ferromagnetic Ising system consisting of magnetic atoms with spin-1. This study is done using the effectivefield theory (EFT) with correlations method. The equations are derived using...

شبیه سازی ذوب سیستمهای دو بعدی

The study of a two-dimensional (2-D) system started nearly half a century ago when Peierls and Landau showed the lack of long range translational order in a two-dimensional solid. In 1968, Mermin proved that despite the absence of long range translational order. Two-dimensional solids can still exhibit a different kind of long range bond orientation. During the last decade, fascinating theori...

Monte Carlo simulation of O ( 2 ) φ 4 field theory in three dimensions

Using standard numerical Monte Carlo lattice methods, we study nonuniversal properties of the phase transition of three-dimensional φ4 theory of a 2-component real field φ = (φ1, φ2) with O(2) symmetry. Specifically, we extract the renormalized values of 〈φ2〉/u and r/u2 at the phase transition, where the continuum action of the theory is ∫ dx[12 |∇φ|2+ 12rφ+ u 4!φ]. These values have applicatio...

ABSORBING STATE TRANSITIONS IN CLEAN AND DISORDERED LATTICE MODELS by MAN

Nonequilibrium systems can undergo continuous phase transitions between different steady states. These transitions are characterized by collective fluctuations over large distances and long times similar to the behavior of equilibrium critical points. They also can be divided into different universality classes according to their critical behavior. This dissertation considers two types of noneq...
